KQ plane lands safely in UK after medical emergency scare

The crew on board KQ100 flight assisted by two medical doctors and a nurse provided medical assistance to the passenger as the Captain declared a medical emergency with the Air Traffic Control.

A Kenya Airways plane travelling from Nairobi to London has successfully landed in Heathrow, United Kingdom following a medical emergency broadcast over Paris.

According to a communication from the national carrier on Tuesday, the plane had on Monday at around 2 p.m. declared a medical emergency after a passenger was taken ill.

"The crew on board KQ100 flight assisted by two medical doctors and a nurse provided medical assistance to the passenger as the Captain declared a medical emergency with the Air Traffic Control (ATC)," the airline reported.

"This was done so that the flight could get an expedited landing for the passenger to receive medical attention."

The aircraft, a Boeing 787 later landed safely at 1447 hrs and paramedics who were already on the ground to receive the aircraft immediately took the passenger to hospital for further medical attention.
